Terms of Service
The agreement between you and GoodToKnow OÜ governing use of goodtoknow.net and the GoodToKnow API.
Last updated: 4 June 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service govern your use of goodtoknow.net and the GoodToKnow vehicle history and risk-scoring API (together, the "Service"), operated by GoodToKnow OÜ ("the Company," "we," "us," or "our"), registered in Estonia, Roseni 10, Floor 5, 10111 Tallinn, Estonia. By accessing or using the Service you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
2. Use of the Service
The Service provides programmatic access to vehicle history data, residual-value estimates, and risk scores for use by motor insurers, vehicle marketplace operators, and related B2B clients. When using the Service you agree to:
- Use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with any API documentation and acceptable-use guidelines we publish.
- Not attempt unauthorised access to our systems, introduce malicious code, or interfere with the availability of the Service for other clients.
- Not scrape, resell, or redistribute API output in bulk except as expressly permitted in a separate written agreement with us.
- Comply with applicable data-protection and consumer-information laws in your own jurisdiction when incorporating our data into downstream products or decisions.
API access is subject to rate limits and the subscription tier documented in your account. We reserve the right to suspend access where usage materially exceeds agreed volumes or violates these Terms.
3. Intellectual Property
The Service (including its software, query engine, risk-scoring methodology, and the compilation structure of its data outputs) is owned by the Company or its data licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual-property law. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Service outputs for your internal business purposes as described in your subscription. No ownership in the underlying registries, algorithms, or software is transferred.
4. User Content and API Submissions
You are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of any VINs, vehicle identifiers, or other data you submit through the API. You grant us a limited licence to use, store, and process such submissions solely to provide the requested Service output. We do not use your submission data to train machine-learning models or build proprietary databases beyond what is necessary to return the query response, unless you have separately agreed otherwise in writing.
5. Disclaimers
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Vehicle history records depend on the completeness and accuracy of data held in underlying national and regional registries, which vary by country and may not reflect all incidents or ownership changes. Our risk scores and residual-value estimates are modelled outputs intended to inform, not replace, underwriting or commercial judgement. We disclaim all warranties to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and uninterrupted availability. Mandatory warranties applicable in your jurisdiction are not affected.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Company's total aggregate liability for any claim arising from or related to the Service, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise, will not exceed the greater of the fees you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim or EUR 100. This limit does not apply to liability that cannot be excluded or limited under mandatory law.
7. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Company and its officers, employees, and contractors from any third-party claims, losses, or costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any applicable law or third-party right.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service upon written notice for material breach of these Terms, or immediately where required to protect the security or availability of the Service. You may terminate your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting us. Sections 3, 5, 6, 7, and 9 survive termination.
9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Estonia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service that cannot be resolved amicably will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Tallinn, Estonia. If you are a consumer resident in a country with mandatory local consumer-protection rules, those rules are not displaced by this clause.
10. Changes and Contact
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. To ask questions about these Terms, contact:
