Cookie Policy
How GoodToKnow uses cookies and similar technologies on goodtoknow.net.
Last updated: 11 February 2026
1. About This Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how GoodToKnow OÜ ("the Company," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on goodtoknow.net. It supplements our Privacy Policy. GoodToKnow provides a B2B vehicle history verification API serving motor insurers and used vehicle marketplace operators; this policy covers only the marketing and documentation website, not the API infrastructure itself.
2. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow us to recognise your device on subsequent visits, store preferences, and measure how the site is used. We also use related browser storage mechanisms such as localStorage (for example, to remember that you have acknowledged this cookie notice).
3. How We Use Cookies
The table below summarises the categories of cookies in use on goodtoknow.net.
| Category | Examples | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Session management, CSRF protection token, cookie-notice dismissal state (localStorage) | Session to 12 months |
| Preferences | UI state persistence for the developer documentation panel | Up to 12 months |
| Analytics | Self-hosted, anonymised page-view and funnel metrics (no cross-site tracking) | Up to 13 months |
| Marketing | Not currently used | N/A |
4. Notice and Choice
goodtoknow.net operates on a notice-only basis: cookies that are necessary for the site to function are active by default. Analytics cookies are activated on page load unless you opt out. A cookie notice is displayed on your first visit; you may acknowledge it or configure your browser to block cookies at any time. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may impair site functionality.
5. Browser Opt-Out Controls
Most modern browsers include controls to block, delete, or restrict cookies. You can also enable the Global Privacy Control (GPC), a browser-level signal that tells websites to limit data collection for sale or cross-site tracking. We honour GPC signals: when your browser transmits GPC, we suppress analytics initialisation regardless of your dismissal state. For instructions on enabling GPC or managing cookies in your browser, see aboutcookies.org or your browser's help documentation.
6. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies may be placed by third-party service providers that act as processors on our behalf (for example, an analytics platform or a CDN). We operate data-processing agreements with such providers limiting how they may use the data. We do not currently use advertising networks or social-media tracking pixels.
7. Managing Cookies
- Use the cookie notice banner when it appears to opt out of analytics cookies.
- To re-open the cookie notice at any time, use the "Cookie preferences" link in the site footer.
- To remove all stored cookies set by this site, clear your browser's cookies for goodtoknow.net in your browser settings.
- Visit aboutcookies.org for browser-specific instructions.
8. Changes and Contact
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page will reflect any change. For questions, contact:
